Asphalt Superintendent

  • Schedule day to day movements of asphalt crews. (Oversee and ensure completion)
  • Schedule hourly hot mix trucks.
  • Ensure all contracts are in place, signed and accepted prior to mobilization.
  • Understands thoroughly the plans, specifications, work schedules, cost estimate and scope of activities for which Fermar Paving Limited has been contracted to perform.
  • Check that all asphalt construction related activities are performed in accordance with the contract documents and above the standards set out for quality and workmanship in the QC plan.
  • Ensure all asphalt related work is planned and performed in accordance with company safety policy including OHSA, local legislation and union agreements.
  • Submit weekly time sheets with correct item and job numbers for billing purposes.
  • Communicate with plant operators, project managers, Q.C. staff and mechanics all movements and day to day crew activities.
  • Measure and communicate quantities for invoicing purposes.
  • Measure and check yields, report any overruns to the project manager on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all tool box talks and job hazards analysis are done and filed accordingly.
  • Provide supervisory guidance and mentoring to staff and identify up  and coming stars.


  • Minimum 10 years road construction experience in a Supervisory role.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with customers.
  • Ability to maintain organization and work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Valid Class "G" Driver License.
