Tremaine Reconstruction South

This Halton Region road reconstruction project stretched two locations for a total of 5.4km from start to finish: including three turning circles. The project is located within lands regulated by Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC) and Conservation Halton (CH). There is a specific area located North of Steeles Avenue at the base of the Niagara Escarpment, which was a low laying wetland area that was environmentally sensitive. After the completion of dewatering the area was sub excavated and 37.5mm course aggregate was placed and wrapped in Terratrack 400 geotextile. The intent was to maintain the existing high artesian conditions with the 37.5 course aggregate. The additional ground and surface water were contained and control through the installation of two 2400mm by 1800mm pre cast box culverts.

Highway 400 and King Road Interchange

Fermar completed the full reconstruction of the Highway 400 and King Road intechange in King City, Ontario.  This project involved widening of approximately four kilometers of Highway 400 including the addition of High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes. The interchange ramps were also reconstructed in accordance with the new design to improve traffic flow.

Reconstruction of Queen Street

Reconstruction of Queen Street will accommodate Brampton's Rapid Transit initiative called ZUM. From Highway 50 to Airport Road, the project consists of widening to six lanes including intersections at Hwy 50, Gore Road, McVean and Airport Rd. In addition, the bridge structures at Humber River and CN Rail corridor will be widened as well.

Reconstruction of Trafalgar Road from Britannia to Hwy 401

Reconstruction of Trafalgar Road from Britannia to Hwy 401 in Milton. Fermar widened the existing road from two lanes to four lanes plus center turn lane. A new overpass was constructed over the CP rail corridor and five structures over the Sixteen Mile Creek East Branch. The project was completed successfully in summer 2009.

Reconstruction of Forks of the Credit Road

Rehabilitation of five sites of deteriorating roadway along the environmentally sensitive Credit River. Work consisted of engineered embankment reconstruction, slope retention systems, engineered fill, storm sewers and environmental isolation works. Fermar was able to complete the work successfully while fully protecting the cold water fishery.

Reconstruction of Rutherford Road from Weston to Jane St

Fermar was awarded this project to widen Rutherford Road in Vaughan prior to construction of the popular Vaughan Mills mall. Rutherford Road was widened from four lanes to six lanes, and Jane Street was widened from Rutherford Road to Locke Street. New intersections were also added for mall access.
